The Hare PCL-R Training Program

Darkstone Research Group is responsible for the development and presentation of the Hare PCL-R Training Program. This Program, which provides training on the Hare Psychopathy Checklist-Revised (PCL-R) and the Hare Psychopathy Checklist: Screening Version (PCL:SV), currently consists of attendance at an authorized Advanced Training Workshop (see list below of upcoming workshops). Note that Part 2 of our Training Program was discontinued, effective July 15, 2012. See Part 2 for more information.


Attendance at most PCL-R / PCL:YV Workshops is restricted to members or staff of the organizations that commission them. However, several workshops are open to all qualified clinicians and researchers. At present, these include the following:

  • September 20-21, 2018: Live Webinar PCL-R Training top

    This PCL-R Training, sponsored by Global Institute of Forensic Research (GIFR) and Multi-Health Systems (MHS), will be comprised of an On Demand presentation by Dr. Robert Hare, as well as a 2-day live and interactive webinar by Dr. J. Reid Meloy. The program will train you in the use of both the PCL-R and the Psychopathy Checklist: Screening Version (PCL:SV) while earning 16 hours of Continuing Education credits.

    The development of the PCL-R and PCL:SV will be discussed, item-by-item instructions will be given on how to reliably score the measures and interpret their findings, a review of the peer-reviewed research on the PCL-R and PCL:SV will be provided, and guidance will be put forth on how to apply reporting conventions. Case studies will be employed to allow you to practice using the instruments and to learn to avoid common administration errors.

    Prior to this training, you are required to have purchased copies of the PCL-R and PCL:SV manuals through their publisher, Multi-Health Systems (www.mhs.com). Manuals are not provided as part of this training.

  • October 22-23, 2018: top

    Dr. Robert Hare and Dr. Matt Logan will present this PCL-R workshop which is sponsored by Darkstone Reseach Group, Multi-Health Systems, and Capstone Seminars. Qualified clinicians will receive 12 CE credits after the workshop is completed. MHS is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. MHS maintains responsibility for this program and its content.

    The cost for the workshop is $599 US and includes lunch on both days. Payment can be made online during registration (see link below) or by purchase order.
